August Cocktails Part 2! Sorrel Summer Tea!

– Adam Kanter, MWI Cherry Hill’s convivial instructor speaking on the old Rum Bar classic, Sorrel Summer Tea
1 oz Atlantico Reserva Rum
1 oz Banks 5 Island Rum
3 oz Sorrel Tea Mix
Simply combine ingredients over ice; shake; strain over fresh ice. Grate fresh nutmeg on top.
To make the Sorrel Tea Mix
3 parts bottled or filtered Water
1 part Dried Sorrel/Hibiscus Flowers
1 part Lemon Juice
1 part Ginger Syrup (press ginger to remove juice. combine with sugar [1:1])
1 part Orange Zest
Cook all ingredients in a pot. Bring to a boil, then turn down heat. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Strain all solids out through a cheesecloth. Be sure to ring it out to get the most intense flavors.
